Full Circle Agent Katie Throne was profiled in The Athens Banner-Herald over the weekend in a new section they are calling Meet the Realtor:
Katie Throne’s interest in green building and sustainable design concepts has recently broadened to furniture design. The Realtor for Full Circle Real Estate Group is enjoying her new hobby.
“My dad has been building furniture as a hobby my whole life and both my mom and sister are masters at interior design, so I guess my interest in design comes naturally even though my background is in journalism and marketing,” she said.
After becoming the first Realtor in Athens to earn The National Association of Realtors GREEN Designation two years ago, Ms. Throne has continued to incorporate the sustainable ideas she learned into her life and business.
“I’m using the same concepts I appreciate in architecture and building, but transferring it to furniture design,” she said. ““I use only reclaimed or recycled materials to create something new. So far, my design aesthetic has leaned toward a combination of mid-century modern and industrial.”
Ms. Throne said she’s lucky to be able to incorporate so many of her interests and hobbies into her career in real estate. Originally from Augusta, she wrote for her hometown newspaper for four years after graduating from The University of Georgia and spent some time in brand marketing and sales before becoming a Realtor.
“I’m really enjoying what I’m doing now and I feel pretty fortunate to have found a job where I can combine a lot of my passions. I love writing, photography and design and I’m very much a people-person,” Ms. Throne said. “I get to write our company’s blog and do our marketing, shoot photographs of great houses and work with clients to help them find their perfect home. It’s a lot of fun!”
