Grab Your Hoe! Now Is The Time To Plant a Fall Garden
The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend and it is the perfect time to start a Fall garden and get those pansies in the ground. Some local Georgia experts offer up a lot of great tips on what to plant and when to do it. Read Walter Reeve's calendar HERE for a week-by-week breakdown of what you should be doing in your yard.
As for veggies, plant or transplant the following now: beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, collards, lettuce, mustard, onions, radishes, spinach and turnips. It's also a great time to:
- Refurbish mulch to control weeds, and start adding leaves and other materials for the compost pile.
- Store your manure under cover to prevent leaching of nutrients. Water deeply and thoroughly to prevent drought stress. Pay special attention to new transplants.
