EcoFocus Film Festival March 23-31

We're getting excited about the EcoFocus Film Festival taking place at Cine at the end of the month. There are a lot of interesting films in this year's line-up. I'm looking forward to Urban Roots (photo left), a film about the collapse of Detroit, and With My Own Two Wheels, a story about how the bicycle can change the world. Both films are screening on March 24.

EcoFocus Film Festival at Ciné

I forgot to blog about the EcoFocus Film Festival that started a few days ago at Ciné. I must be distracted by this booming real estate market. Anyway, it is definitely worth checking out. The festival runs through October 3rd and there are still plenty of great educational and entertaining films left to see.

You can catch the premiere of Water War, a PBS documentary about the 20-yr water struggle between Alabama, Florida and Georgia, this Saturday at 7pm.

Today is EcoFest kids day, so they can watch films for free and there are a bunch of kid activities. Click HERE for info on other upcoming films and showtimes.

Sidenote: Did you know you can add the accent mark above the "é" by holding down the Alternate button on your keyboard and entering 0233 on your number pad? Who the héck knew that? I wonder what other tricks I don't know about...

Full Circle Real Estate Group Plants Native Garden!

If you are in the Boulevard neighborhood, swing by and check out Full Circle's new native plant garden at 148 Virginia Ave. Landscaping with native plants helps reduce water usage, saves money and helps our local ecosystem.

Doug Tallamy, author of Bringing Nature Home writes, "Unless we modify the places we live, work and play to meet not only our own needs but the needs of other species as well, nearly all species of wildlife native to the United States will disappear forever. This is not speculation...it is playing out across the country and the planet as I write."

Landscape Designer Laura Hall used various native plants in Full Circle's landscaping including Southern Shield Ferns, Virginia Bluebells, Mayapples, Crested Iris, Goldenrod, Columbine, etc. Click HERE for a list of trees, shrubs and plants native to Georgia.
